While our Liability Reduction Options cover damage or accidents related to our vehicles, they don’t protect you against other unexpected challenges during your trip. That’s why we strongly recommend getting Travel Insurance. The term RV, short for Recreational Vehicle, originated in North America and includes a variety of vehicles designed for comfortable road living. RVs are mainly divided into two categories:

Motorised RVs: This category includes motorhomes and campervans, which do not require towing, offering a cozy and comfortable living space for travelers on the go.

Towable RVs: Caravans (also known as travel trailers) are designed to be towed by another vehicle. They provide the flexibility to detach your vehicle while leaving your accommodation behind, all while still delivering a comfortable living environment.

In Australia and New Zealand, people typically refer to caravans simply as “caravans” or “vans,” without classifying them as RVs. It’s worth noting that the definition of RV can vary by region. For instance, in Europe, RV usually refers to motorhomes and campervans, while caravans are called “touring caravans.”
